Moving to Guelph

We arrived in Guelph with about half a dozen of Eric’s superior homemade baked burritos, 3 blankets, 2 laptops, 1 borrowed pillow, and Sage at around 10 pm on a rainy Thursday evening. We found a letter from Videotron addressed to us in our new mailbox crediting us with $14, which is a good way to move in to any new place. It was comfortable sleeping on the floor.

Our new home!

The next morning we drank 7-11 coffee and waited for the movers to arrive. They managed to move all our stuff in between downpours. Here are photos of Stage One (empty) and Stage 2 (chaos) of the event “Moving Into Our New Place”:

Yay! New pics! I really like the beach/pebble pictures. Tried to get the same thing myself when I was up at the cottage but they did not turn out so great:(

    Welcome to Guelph!

p.s. your sofa looks way purple-er in the photos than in real life.

I think maybe I need that burrito recipe?

Also, I like that you move in rubbermaids.

    @ paula:
I took about 100 photos of water and pebbles, no joke. Some of them had to turn out by the sheer power of probability.

And speaking of power, when we finally get a lamp I promise not to put in bulbs with camera-flash-like qualities. The Orange Chair and Purple Sofa will definitely start a war if we brighten this room.

    @ the albertan mlis:
For the burrito recipe I may have to tap into Eric’s mind and plunder aimlessly for a while. I’ll see what I can do!

Amazingly, Rubbermaid is easier to find that cardboard. Who knew?

    Eric’s burrito recipe, verbatim:

    – Get 2 cans of black beans and 1 can of pinto beans, but red or kidney beans will work, too
    – “Quick drain” the majority but not all of the liquid from the beans by dumping them into a strainer and then quickly back into a bowl… you want to keep some of the juices
    – [By bowl, he means pot]
    – Simmer them in the pot
    – Dump one can of diced tomatoes preferably with chilies into the pot… that should probably be before the simmer line…
    – Take a lot of mushrooms, like maybe more than just that one thing… one and a half boxes or two boxes… cut them into slices and fry them with onion and garlic
    – After they’re fried throw them into the pot
    – Keep simmering the beans until they’re the consistency of a thick chili, you don’t want them to be watery
    – Shred a whole wackload of cheese
    – Put the bean mixture into tortillas
    – Throw some cheese onto that mixture
    – Roll them but don’t worry about folding in the sides, the pan will take care of that and you can get more beans in there that way
    – Take a cake pan [gestures a large rectangular baking pan] and pack in the tortillas
    – Put a layer of spicy salsa over the burritos
    – Put a nice layer of shredded cheese over that
    – Bake at like 425? until the cheese is the colo[u]r of a pizza on top… golden brown

Oooh, I can’t wait to try it! I’m uncertain about the “wackload of cheese”, given my lactose incompetence, but I might try some of the goat variety.

    yum.
