NOTE: I finally published this in April and back dated it to December. If I recall, on my birthday we went out for lunch and book shopping at Great Books cafe. As usual, this was our breakfast:

Sage’s 14th birthday
Today
Sage’s thirteenth
We celebrated Sage’s birthday with pumpkin-blueberry-banana pancakes. I knew she knew they were for her when she laid at my feet while I was cooking. Both dogs devoured them, I hope it won’t add too much to their girths.
Why no present on the momentous occasion of Sage becoming a teenager? Because Canadian Tire was all sold out of decoy mallards and that’s all she really wanted. We will check back later this week.
Carl’s birthday
Birthday in Asheville
Sagie’s 12th birthday
Since Sage completed an entire zodiac cycle, I thought I would spoil her by trying a recipe from a promising library book:
The Natural Pet Food Cookbook: Healthful Recipes for Dogs and Cats
We went with the Savory-Sweet Chicken and Apple Loaf which involved: basmati rice, fresh and dried apples, parsley, pineapple, grated carrots, cheese, eggs, and of course, 4 cups of cooked chicken breast. Though she looks pouty in the photo, Sage loved it. So did Abbey, Chinny, and Scruffy, while Mom thought it needed salt :)
Klara’s birthday
Oops, this is from a month ago…
Birthday boy
Eric’s birthday started early, with 6AM cupcakes and then gifts. We both had naps before lunch [insert age joke here] and then hiked through nearly knee-deep snow to spend a bit of time by the still unfrozen bay at Ainslie Wood. Later we celebrated with all you can eat sushi and a couple bottles of hot sake downtown. Yum!
