Boyd Crevices

The Bruce Trail Conservancy website describes this place as a “labyrinth of crevices cut deep into the Escarpment rock”. It’s one of our new favourite hikes and just a quick drive from home. On the day we visited in May with tea and snacks, it hailed.

An erratic, or, See what the glacier dragged in

Feels like the first warm day in years. We took the girls on a relaxed, hill-free, hour long hike complete with cookies and fruit (not shown).

Camping on Beausoleil Island

Notes for next time:

  • Don’t take 14′ boat through The Gap in high winds
  • Don’t camp near rattlesnakes
  • Find out if there is such a thing as “snake bells”
  • Don’t camp near poison ivy
  • Buy tall hiking socks
  • Don’t let Abbey jump onto the dock without a life jacket
  • Don’t haul Abbey out of the water by the leash when she is underwater, under the dock
  • Bring towels / blankies for the dogs
  • Get thicker sleeping pads
  • Get a solar charger
  • Get print charts (and laminate them)
  • Don’t wear black pants near mosquitoes
  • If {packing art supplies}, then {include sketchbook}
  • Remember to pack: watershoes, fleece pants, fleece jacket, gaiters
  • Grocery wish list: veggie dogs, tortillas & PB, cookies, additional beer
  • Definitely camp at the Chimney Bay or Oaks campground again!
