The Great Dismal Swamp

Reflections of me

A great way to bug someone is to take photos of yourself reflected in their sunglasses. This becomes especially annoying if you have to try over and over just to get one shot in focus. Triple points if you’re at a restaurant or in some other public place. Best response to any vocalizations of annoyance is something like, I wish you could appreciate my creative side.

(sorry Eric)

Owen Sound

I didn’t take very many photos on our 3 day trip to check out Owen Sound. We were busy stalking the houses for sale whose MLS descriptions we’d printed and stapled in street number order (we were very organized about this). The photos I wish I had taken include:

  • the beautiful Carnegie Library’s vaulted ceiling (and the book-spine shaped donor plaques inside)
  • the Tom Thompson Art Gallery’s Thompson mascot head
  • the stained glass hanging in the artist co-op gift shop
  • the talkative guy in the grocery store who broke the jar of instant coffee
  • the rabbit we saw out the hotel window

Here’s what I did take:

Road trip: day one

Day one: QC > VT > NY > NJ > PA.

Sunday. We left the rain in Montreal and had a pretty drive. Vermont loves scarecrows. This made the beautiful little towns scarier than I expected. Picked up L. and N. at a motel along the AT and successfully navigated to a Panera’s before closing time for soup and bread.

Themeless Profile Photo Contest profile photo number one

First ProfileEric’s rock climbing / drinkfest website is having a profile photo contest. I’m not even eligible to win, and the prize is a plastic pitcherful of crappy beer, yet here I am wasting time taking photos of myself. I am avoiding the grading of 39 composition #5s for my ESL writing class. Anyway, here’s my first effort. I like it because it’s messy andĀ  becauseĀ  it’s a reflection photo .
